CLEO Releases Report Exploring the Expansion of CLEONet
Wednesday, November 04, 2009 Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO) recently conducted a series of consultations and a selected literature review to explore the form and shape of a comprehensive legal information site for Ontario. The purpose of this project was to fill out a vision for the creation of a comprehensive web site that provides the public legal information most needed by Ontarians. No single web site in Ontario currently provides legal information to the public that addresses the range of legal problems most frequently encountered. While our experience with CLEONet and our ongoing consultations with organizations across Ontario reveal that many organizations are engaged in producing critically needed public legal education, there is no single site that contains accessible and accurate information on a wide range of legal issues, designed to help the public understand their legal rights, in multiple formats and languages. The report summarizes the key findings, discusses existing initiatives that could be built on and possibly partnered with, and outlines key next steps. The overall recommendation is that CLEO, in collaboration with community and legal partners, develop a comprehensive legal information web site for Ontario made up of three integrated components:
