Focus Group: Toronto Queer/Women/Women of Colour & Marginalization in Activist Spaces

Thursday, October 29, 2009

This call for focus group participants is for all queer/women/women of colour in Toronto, who have felt marginalized within spaces of resistance.

Have you done/doing community/political activism and feel the same oppressions that you face outside of these "safe" spaces within your organizing? Do you have a problem with the structure of these organizations that do not challenge internal reproductions of marginalization - ie heterosexism, racism and ableism? Do you feel disenfranchised? Annoyed, or simply feel as if things won't change?

This group is conducting a focus group to discuss these issues for a community research project to change the very spaces that we invest our time and energy in.

They indicate that they will respect confidentiality.

This will also be an opportunity to meet activists from across the city, organizing in a wide array of communities, to share, discuss and start the wheels for transformation!
