Professional Education and Training (PET) Project for ISAP and NSP Funded Settlement WorkersThe Professional Education and Training (PET) Project provides financial support for Individual and In-House Group training of Settlement Staff, generously supported by Citizenship and Immigration Canada. The project was broadened this year to make eligible as well all staff funded under the Newcomer Settlement Program of the Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration, as well as specific positions within the ELT and LINC programs. Settlement staff whose positions are funded under the Immigrant Settlement Adaptation Program (ISAP), Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP), HOST, Job Search Workshops (JSW), Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS), and the Newcomer Settlement Program (NSP). This includes all staff categories including frontline workers, managers, coordinators, and executive directors who are directly funded by these programs. Coordinators and Managers in Enhanced Language Training (ELT) or Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) programs are also eligible for financial support. Staff who are eligible under these funded categories may apply for and, if approved, be reimbursed up to $750 upon completion of the approved course. Agencies which are funded to provide these programs may apply for and, if approved, be reimbursed up to $2000 for In-House Group Training designed to enhance organizational capacity and knowledge sharing.
